Hey all, I am a game dev working on a game, and I have recently gotten this piece of audio:

This sound is known in my files as shovelhit, however I have tried looking on this website to find the origin, but no luck.

Is there any sounds that sound similar to this? Thank you.

You'd probably have an easier time remaking the sound by layering similar sounds rather than searching an exact replica.
Something like explosion sound + metal pan (ringing)
Or Kick + glass shatter + metal pan.

I think metal pan hit will do the metallic shovel ringing. Just need an extra "impact" sound.

I realise once finished, that it's quite higher pitched than the one you showed.

Further analysing the sound, which I should have done before jumping ahead and making mine...
There seems to be a few things going on.
1) Fairly big or low note bell sound
2) Low rumble impact sound.
3) Human "oof" / hit react air exhale sound.
4) Some kind of folly of either the person falling on the ground, or equipment moving about from the person delivering the blow.

I presume some of those layers are separate to the actual hit. Like a woosh for the shovel going though the air would be there no matter if it hit's or not, the "OOF" exhale sound might be randomised and a character independent thing.

You'd probably just want a layer of bell/metal and a impact of some kind layered just for the hit itself.

May want to pitch them down. Add whoosh sounds to lead in/out. Fade out resonance earlier etc...

From memory, it seemed similar to something I recorded over 20 years ago, but I found it and it was not as similar as I thought (mine has much more garage ambiance, no layering of other sounds), plus I never uploaded it to freesound. It was used to build a break-in sequence for a radio theater production.

I forgot about this thread! Thanks for reminding me of it.

I abandoned the project where I put "shovelhit" in, because I lost motivation on it and didn't like the direction it was going. But I'm planning on migrating to a new engine and starting a new project. But I really like these sounds!
