Hello there,
I'm making a WD-40 sample pack.
https://freesound.org/people/Sadiquecat/packs/41076/ (To this day there's only 2sounds uploaded)

Does anyone have any ideas or requests? I'm currently at 860mb of sounds, I'd like to reach 1gb as a mille stone.
Tapping it, spraying, rubbing, shaking, Igniting it, vibrating it, handling it, putting it down. I'm out of ideas x')

I'm not opposed to doing some of that again with other objects / materials if anyone has any requests smile

Cheers!

ignite?

I thought shaking sounds good. Perhaps you can do a better job at it than I did.

LMAO the meme is great!

By ignite, it's the spray that I'm igniting not the entire bottle.

Though I should finish the sample pack with more destructive recordings, like shooting BB's at it or chopping the bottle in two with an axe or something, I don't know yet.

I ought to mention, the "WD-40 Flame thrower sample" idea was brought to me by discord user Tawmi and is not my original idea!

Update on it, I'm at 429 files, 1.02 GB worth of audio (mainly in 96khz 24bit).

I still have a few ideas of stuff to record but I can't wait to call this project done and never touch a bottle of WD-40 nor audacity ever again lol.

Update 2, I found two files that were exported as the whole recording and not snippets lol. We can remove 500mb from it all... Still, half a gigabyte of WD-40 worth of audio is quite a thing xD

I had a plymouth Salon whose doors would freeze shut. I would use a WD-40 can and a lighter to torch into the crack of the door, and then it would open.

That's surprizing and wholesome!
"if it doesn't move, use WD-40. If it's frozen, heat it up. If it's both, use flaming WD-40" lol

Rant incoming :
Sigh... Turns out spraying wd-40 under water isn't a very exciting sound, nor is spraying the surface of water.
Also turns out you can't use a contact mic as a hydrophone x')

And my H5 has annoying "tics" every 5s or so when using 48v phantom power and that puts me in a bad mood :C (Luckily my rode NT5 accept 24v and I have no problems there, just means I can't use my fethead :/)

The cable of my headphones is too short to comfortably setup my zoom in a recording position and monitor while operating stuff.

And I haven't figured out a good location to record a long flame thrower sample. Playing with fire and spraying WD-40 all over the place isn't the best of things. Can't really do it outdoors as the smallest of wind is rather noticeable and well "flames" isn't the loudest of sound either.

I'm trying hard to make this "joke" recording theme, and be creative with what I have got, but for now I had enough, I'm going to bed x')

Starting the uploads. I have split all sounds in 20 batches and will try to upload one or two a day.

Achievement, uploaded 300sounds in the pack, and now over 1000 sounds on Freesound grin
Some day I'll post an arbitrary list of Freesound milestone/achievements x')

Ta, Freaking, da!
Uploaded all 567 sounds with tags and descriptions. Should have some metadata too. This was a long project x')
https://freesound.org/people/Sadiquecat/packs/41076/

I might add more, I have ideas shooting BBs at it, chopping it with an axe, hitting it with a hammer. Spraying until it's empty, maybe recording more flamethrower samples. Maybe more splashes, making some DAW manipulation to make new sounds, like with granular or making an explosion, loops, having a airhorn + WD-40 mix for the memes, saying some WD-40 hype vocals and stuff.

But for now, it's done and I'm taking a break x')
ALSO, I deserve a sponsorship or a life time of supply of WD-40 at this point...
