This is a common feature in social media sites (Facebook, Reddit) and forums. Typically:

- The comments have a "Reply" button to the right of or just below

- The reply text block is indented to show it is a reply to the previous comment

- The reply text may start with @username of the person replied to, generated automatically (YouTube does this) though not essential

Additionally please remove the email alert that tells me about my own comment. I don't need to be alerted, I wrote it, I know! I only want to know about others' comments.

I assume you mean comments on users sounds.
I don't get these.
I believe you go to your profile settings and tick(untick) boxes for which alerts you wish(not) to receive.
(Many years since I did this.)

Hi Freemaster

Great suggestion

This is a feature that's in the development pool. I created a ticket for this a few years ago on github. It's sitting there on the list of improvements, and as the new frontend is now finally being realised, other improvements to the UX like this have a chance for consideration.

You can see this topic on the open-source github repository...

I was trying to reply to the comment I got But I found it not possible to reply. I wish it would possible.

I would definitely like this feature because I saw a message responding to one of my sounds but I could find a way to respond to them. So, I had to post a comment explaining what was happening in the recording. Do you know when a feature like this could be made available?

Hey

FYI, this is among a long list of new features TBD...

You can take a look at the public github repository to see it. It's half way down the new features list; ticket #1425.

https://github.com/MTG/freesound/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3A%22New+feature%22+sort%3Aupdated-desc

So the answer is, maybe not anytime soon, but certainly at some point in the future wink
