Today I noticed my uploads were quickly moved to the next latest page, and uploads from days ago were first, and theyve been switching eradically all day. Not sure if this is just something that happens everyonce in a while that Ive never noticed, or if there is a different algorithm going on.
It looks like this has been happening always and you never noticed
I believe that the underlying cause is due to the way that we mix the date that a sound was uploaded, and the date that a sound was moderated (for users that still need moderation). We'll take a more detailed look at this and see if we can find a better solution to prevent sounds from quickly disappearing when moderators have a streak of approving lots of sounds
Not sure if this is part of the same problem but the threads in (for example) the sample requests forum are out of order chronologically as well. I was reading one from 15 years ago thinking that it was recent 👾
Hi everyone,
Forum threads should be in order of last reply, but sometimes there might be threads without that information (because we deleted a spam message or something) and then they might be shown out of order for a while until they get synced again.
About sounds, I guess @Nate_tha_Late refers to the "Latest additions" section in the frontpage. These are intentionally out of order so that users that upload less sounds also have a chance to appear. IIRC, every 30 minutes we take the last 12 sounds uploaded by distinct users and randomize the list. If we don't randomize, the users that upload sounds more regularly have more chances to appear in the first set of 3 sounds. By randomizing, the first positions become a bit more diverse.
