The sound comes from a tram moving along steel rails, produced mainly by wheel–rail contact, the electric drive, and braking systems. It is characterized by a low-frequency rolling rumble, and rhythmic rail noise with occasional high-pitched braking squeals as the tram passes.
The recording was made outdoors near a tram line in Hervanta, Tampere, using recorder in iPhone 12 Pro Max. The purpose of the recording is to provide a clear example of a large electric vehicle pass-by for basic audio processing and movement-related sound analysis.
